“I just need another me.”
We have probably all said this before. The reality is that we pour ourselves into our businesses and believe we know what is best.
But, is another you what you really need? Someone who works and does everything the way you do? This answer might shock you, but NO, you do not want to hire another you!
Owning a business is great, but sometimes it can feel like you are stuck in a college class you didn’t want to sign up for (looking at you Intro to Stats). There are lessons along the way that will throw you for a loop. Having a different opinion or viewpoint to turn to from someone who is not you will be beneficial. As much as we think we can handle it ALL… we can’t.
You don’t have to know everything when it comes to running your own business, which is great because *spoiler alert* – you don’t. As the world and our industries grow and change, we should too. Or as the kids say today, “stay woke” (no, I did not Google that one 😎).
Self Awareness and Social Consciousness in Entrepreneurship
In this episode of On the Up and Up, we chat with Jen Lawrence of Jenerosity Partners, a longtime friend and colleague about all things people and operations as both separate but equally important priorities as an entrepreneur.
Jen is a Business Process Consultant focusing on streamlining workflows, optimizing tools, and aligning teams for operational efficiency and effectiveness (check out this blog on how to run an effective team meeting). Leveraging over twenty years of administrative and project management experience, she helps entrepreneurs and small businesses develop highly customized and strategic solutions to solve their biggest people, processes, and technology pain points.
Jen’s 20+ year background in Executive Assisting, Project Management, and then moving into entrepreneurship herself has given her a deep and insightful foundation on which to help female entrepreneurs grow their businesses. In this value-packed episode, we discuss:
✴️ The necessary blend of people and process
✴️ Using assessments to create a common language on your team
✴️ Jen’s business evolution and why VIP Days were not IT for her (and why that’s okay!)
✴️ The importance of embracing continuing education and a growth mindset as an entrepreneur
✴️ The beauty of finding your #2
✴️ The key difference between results and methods
✴️ The role of shame in growth and how you can use it as a call to action to motivate your own evolution
✴️ How compliance and operations are BFFs and it’s not shameful to feel like you missed the mark in creating compliant team resources
What does it mean so be a shameless business owner?
It’s not about showing up and shamelessly promoting your products and services, although that is great too! It’s not even about being shameless about your values and mission. Shameless entrepreneurship is about running your business in a way that allows for the space to ask for help, participate in community, and collaborate in the interest of personal and professional growth.
I can’t wait for you to enjoy the episode, and in the meantime, grab some of Jen’s goodies here.
