Kristin Richards is a former client, certified Mindset + Success Coach and the owner of Girlboss Designer, a branding and web design agency that serves women entrepreneurs. She is also the host of the Create Your Destiny Podcast.
Kristin and I have somewhat similar stories for how we left our jobs and started our own business. For me, I quit the corporate world and convinced my best friends to travel the world with me. After that, I started doing HR for a small business in San Diego. When quarantine hit and I had extra time on my hands, that’s when I finally started Paradigm.
Kristin also felt the pressures of working a 9-5 when she decided to quit her job and start her own coaching business. For a year she traveled around Europe and worked remotely until she settled down in Australia.
I loved getting a feature on Kristin’s podcast, Create Your Destiny. After all, we both own businesses that aim to help women entrepreneurs in the online business space (#GirlBossing). Check it out to hear more about making the switch from Solopreneur to CEO!
It seems so easy to hire a contractor when you’re overwhelmed and drowning in work. But when you do that, you’re not building a strategy, you’re just plugging holes in the boat so you don’t sink.
-Your Very Own, Kira La Forgia
You really have to think about having employees as contributing to equity in the workplace, especially if you’re hiring women. There are lots of benefits that come with being an employee, and only 8% of people identify as an entrepreneur. The 92% are people that you could provide a good job to.

Build the job that you need to move forward. Make it replicable so you can replace an employee if needed and you aren’t relying on one person to be with you forever.

Here is an except from the Create Your Destiny Podcast page:
Get ready to laugh and be educated on some seemingly confusing topics with today’s guest, Kira La Forgia. Kira and I met in the Aligned Business Mastermind this year, and I hired her a few months back to help me make the transition from solopreneur with contractors supporting me, to official CEO running a payroll. I was happy to get Kira’s help to make the process SO much easier and streamlined. Let’s get to the episode!
